Ask about this tripFrom the Swat River to the high valleys beyond Astore, every landscape changes the pace, access and shape of the journey.
Follow the Swat River north, then climb from the valley floor into high forest, open peaks and winter slopes.

Swat follows its river from Mingora into orchard towns, forested slopes and the high valleys beyond. It is the great northern threshold, connecting cultural history with the mountain roads to Kalam and Malam Jabba.
Access noteRoad journey via Mingora. High-valley routes remain weather dependent.

At the head of Swat, Kalam gathers river water below conifer slopes and snow-cut peaks. It is the base for deeper mountain routes toward Ushu, Mahodand and the upper valleys.
Access noteUpper Swat by road. Lake and forest routes depend on seasonal conditions.

Malam Jabba rises from the Swat corridor into forested ridges and one of Pakistan's best-known ski landscapes. Winter brings snow sports, while warmer months open broad valley views from the high slopes.
Access noteAbout 44 kilometres from Mingora. Snow and activity conditions vary by season.
The road narrows, the forest deepens and the last approach gives way to meadow, trail and camp-country silence.

A pine-clad plateau above the Kaghan Valley, Shogran trades the river road for open mountain air. It is the starting point for local jeep routes toward Siri and Paye, where meadow gives way to the Makra skyline.
Access noteMountain road above Kewai. The final climb and Siri Paye route are weather sensitive.

Sharan is a dense pine refuge above the Kaghan Valley, built around trails, clearings and a quieter rhythm than the main road below. It suits a short forest escape, while deeper routes toward Musa ka Musalla demand more time and preparation.
Access noteJeep road about 16 kilometres above Paras. Official pods and hostel stays require advance booking.

Kumrat follows the Panjkora through tall deodar forest, river bends and wide camping meadows. Its quiet comes with real remoteness, where rough final roads make the approach part of the journey.
Access noteUpper Dir by road. Local 4x4 travel is commonly needed beyond Thal.

Above the Kumrat region, Jahaz Banda opens into a high alpine meadow ringed by dark ridges and waterfalls. Reaching it is part of the experience, with a rough approach and a sustained mountain walk before the plateau.
Access noteA seasonal mountain trek. Local road, weather and trail conditions need confirmation.
Here the landscape becomes monumental: orchard villages, cold desert, turquoise water and granite horizons.

Hunza layers orchard villages, centuries-old forts and sharp Karakoram silhouettes along one legendary highway. From Karimabad to Attabad and Passu, every short drive changes the scale and colour of the valley.
Access noteKarakoram Highway access. Higher passes and side roads can close in winter.

Skardu sits where river valleys, lakes, forts and cold-desert dunes gather beneath Baltistan's granite skyline. It is both a destination and the staging ground for Deosai and some of the world's highest mountain routes.
Access noteReached by air or the Jaglot-Skardu road. Weather can alter both journeys.
Past Burzil Pass lies a quieter geography of border valleys, flowered meadows and clear alpine water.

Beyond Astore and Burzil Pass, Minimarg is a remote border valley of forest, meadow and clear-running streams. Its isolation is the attraction, but access, identification and photography rules must always be confirmed before departure.
Access noteShort summer access window. Entry requirements and road conditions must be reconfirmed.

Domel, also presented as Domail or Dumel, is the meadow-and-lake country beyond Minimarg near Rainbow Lake. Clear water, summer flowers and fast-moving mountain weather give the landscape an almost unreal stillness.
Access noteRemote border region. Permissions, seasonal access and conditions must be reconfirmed.
